IRIS 0.4 Release Now Available

by Adam Cheyer last modified 2007-02-08 17:52

0.4 contains the latest upgrades and improvements to IRIS.

February 8, 2007

IRIS is a research-quality semantic desktop marrying an ontology knowledge base, robust third party apps (e.g. Mozilla), and an extensible machine learning framework. We are pleased to announce a new and improved version of IRIS and hope it will provide the semantic information and machine learning communities with a powerful new research platform.

IRIS is released to the public under an LGPL license. At this point, IRIS is still considered to be a fairly early stage research prototype (by no means a commercial product). However, it should be stable enough for use by a motivated user, and should provide enough of a framework where programmers can begin integrating with it.

IRIS is being developed as a small part of the CALO project. As such, we will try to be responsive to the open source community (particularly those who are using IRIS for machine learning purposes), but please understand that we have limited bandwidth..

What's New in Release 0.4

Integration of Pellet - IRIS has now a java-based OWL DL reasoner which supports advanced reasoning.

Keyword filter added to IRIS Data Applications - this UI feature helps filter out relevant information in large volume of data.

Various bug fixes to release 0.3
